Yardwork: Pirates Fans Protect Their Catcher & a Walkoff Balk

The point of this story, aside from the fact that it’s another great example of how insane people are? Things seem to be going the Pirates way this season, something none of us are used to at all. Jose Veras almost ruined the fun yesterday, but this is a team that has won four straight and seven of 10. They’re firmly entrenched in the NL Central race. So are the Pirates for real? It would be kind of cool if they were.
Red Sox 4, Rays 2 — The Sox have won 11 of 12. Has anyone looked at Adrian Gonzalez’s stats recently? He’s been on a tear.
O’s 4, Blue Jays 3 — I think I’ve made fun of Kevin Gregg to the point that he’s become a serviceable closer. He did give up a run in the ninth last night, but the fact that he’s only blown four saves is kind of amazing.
