Derek Jeter’s 3000th Hit Is A Home Run
Baseball July 9th. 2011, 2:00pmDerek Jeter collected hits number 2,999 and 3,000 today against the Tampa Bay Rays in New York. It was a historic day as Jeter became the first Yankee to ever accomplish the feat and the 28th player in baseball history. Jeter hit number 3,000 into the stands off David Price in the bottom of the 3rd. Like I said yesterday, it’s the most important thing in your life right now.
If you want to laugh and/or get frustrated with humanity, go do a real-time Twitter search for The Captain.
Update: Here’s video of 3,000. Incredible. Only Jeter. Notice how A-Rod spanks the hell out of him multiple times. He’s weird. And yes, this is Hernia.

Congrats Cap’n Jeter. Hell of a way to enter the 3,000 hit club.

They should show Minka Kelly during each and everyone of Jeter’s at bats from now on.

Never liked the Yanks, but respect for Derek Jeter. Congrats on a Cal Ripken-esque way to reach a milestone.

Sounds about right. Glad it was a home run – leaves no doubt at all about what he’s accomplished.

Watching MLB Network with the YES broadcast, and the guy who caught the 3000th ball is like that Yankee fan with his rings and the cigar. Not joking.
/Yanks hooked him up though…field seats tomorrow and suite tickets the rest of the season until the WS
//Yanks will be lucky to get out of the first round

I wonder what he would have to say to his son when he says “Daddy, why did I miss Jeter’s 3000th hit?”

Kid that caught the ball is a local. Same school district. One in a million he’s there for that hit.

Yep, 5-5, including a homer? Major respect.
Did they really show Minka Kelly on the camera?
