Braylon Edwards Suing Restaurant For Slander
Legal, NFL September 14th. 2011, 5:25pm
On August 1st it was reported that Braylon Edwards was involved in an incident at a Michigan restaurant where his entourage got into a fight. Edwards’ two friends were arrested. Now, Edwards is suing the restaurant – South Bar in Birmingham – for slander.
Edwards claims he lost $14 million in guaranteed money based on the the rumor that he was involved. Edwards is currently stuck in San Francisco with Alex Smith as his quarterback and just $1 million in guaranteed money. Edwards says he was not part of the incident and had left through a back door. The real question is, who was willing to give Braylon Edwards $15 million dollars in guaranteed money?
Edwards is suing for the $14 million in lost wages.

Sometimes I wish I was a judge so that I could sit up above people bringing these cases to court and say to them “Get the fuck out of my courtroom and fuck you for wasting everyone’s time”.
Yes I know it’s not the simple, but I can dream can’t I?

Excellent picture choice CRM. I think that about sums up just how this case will go for Mr. Edwards.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:33 PM
That actually would be fun, because most of these things really are ridiculous.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:37 PM
Jerk.

I know nobody clicks the links…but he actually claims to have had an offer that was rescinded because of this. If that team just says “Yes, we removed the offer after these allegations”, he has a pretty decent case.

I’d still tell him to fuck off.
I never said I’d be a good judge.

The problem is Daniel Snyder has such a busy schedule this time of year, and will be unavailable to confirm his offer under oath.
/Sounds like a Snyder offer
September 14th, 2011 at 5:43 PM
Yeah, well I’d still love to be a judge presiding over ridiculous cases like this. And it’s even more ridiculous if someone actually DID offer him that.

49er fans really need to sue the 49ers for retaining Alex Smith.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:45 PM
To be honest, watching that game on Sunday reminded me that he’s a huge dam holding back the potential of the 49er offense. He, not Sanchez, is the king of the check-down.

Needs to be preceded by:

You’re right, they should have stuck with J.T. O’ Sullivan. He was truly the future of the organization. Unappreciated in his own time.

49er fans really need to sue the 49ers for ever drafting Alex Smith.

Fixed.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:50 PM
In the context of personnel moves in the NFL, it is rather surprising though that the 49ers have held onto Smith for this long. Shit, even Al Davis got ride of Jamarcus Russell after 3 seasons.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:51 PM
How funny would it be if Pete Carroll & Seattle end up with Andrew Luck and Harbaugh & 49ers draft Matt Barkley?
/Pretend Kaepernick doesn’t exists

You should have heard the Nate Davis praise just over 12 months ago. He was the next Joe.
/every 49er back up is the next Joe
September 14th, 2011 at 5:52 PM
Sadly, I’m guessing J.T. O’Sullivan’s best NFL game outshines that of Alex Smith’s. Says so much.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:52 PM
Ballz, what’d you think of Nate Davis? I actually liked what I saw from him in limited action. I don’t think he would have been Pro Bowl studly, but I think he could have doing some good things, and would have definitely been better than Alex.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:52 PM
Alex Smith is far better than Jamarcus ever was. And not nearly as lazy.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:53 PM
All I remember him doing was throwing a pass 65 yards in the pre-season. I can’t really say.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:54 PM
Its a testimony to Alex Smith’s long held abstinence of the purple drank
September 14th, 2011 at 5:54 PM
I’m fairly certain that’s not true.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:54 PM
Exhibit A…the guy is out of the league at 24, and he is still fondly remembered as the one that got away.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:57 PM
That alone should sell you, haha. IIRC, he had the best pre-season of the 3 QB’s last year and Singletary didn’t even put him on the roster. Claimed there were off the field issues with him, or something like that.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:59 PM
I wouldn’t go that far, I’m just saying that I would have liked to have seen him get a chance in the regular season, because at least he was someone other than Alex.
September 14th, 2011 at 5:59 PM
Alex Smith is far better than Jamarcus ever was. And not nearly as lazy.
You are arguing about different levels of shit here. It’s not an argument that’s really worth having.
September 14th, 2011 at 6:10 PM
what’d you think of Nate Davis?
Davis was the best QB on the Niners’ roster in his time there. But word was he had a severe learning disability that made it hard for him to digest the playbook, and they just gave up on him after Singletary took over. But damn that kid had an arm, and he could move. He also could move the offense better than Smith, O’Sullivan or Hill.
September 14th, 2011 at 6:17 PM
Exactly. It’s a shame they couldn’t work around that learning thing, or just figure something out to help him.
September 14th, 2011 at 6:35 PM
Yes, he had a learning disability, but he is not good at football. Why did he wash out at 2 other places already? If he were any good, he wouldn’t be sitting at home on Sept. 14th at the age of 24.
September 14th, 2011 at 6:49 PM
That is actually false. Did you ever see him play, or are you just saying he can’t play because he’s out of football? He performed well when on the field, but it’s hard for a team to put faith in you when you can’t learn the playbook.
Here are a couple nuggets, not that I expect to change your mind or anything. Just sayin…
September 14th, 2011 at 6:50 PM
Alex Smith is far better than Jamarcus ever was
That’s like saying Joe DeRita was better than Joe Besser. They were both lower-rung Stooges. Which is also a fitting description of Alex Smith and JaCarcass.
September 14th, 2011 at 6:52 PM
I agree, Beef. Davis had football smarts, like Terry Bradshaw.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:01 PM
You posted PRESEASON stats. They mean pretty much nothing.
Nate Davis sucks.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:02 PM
Alex Smith is no where near as bad as Jamarcus was.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:02 PM
Yes, I watched him play. I saw the bomb to Ginn in the preseason. Your game notes are against scrubs in the 4th quarter of a preseason game.
Having the tools doesn’t make you a good QB. There are tons of guys with tools that aren’t good QBs…Nate Davis is one of them.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:07 PM
I kinda feel bad for Smith. In the right system he could be a serviceable QB. Not great, but decent.
Having 7 offensive coordinators in 7 seasons could make a lot of QB’s look lost.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:09 PM
Gotta love the Alex Smith apologists. Alex Smith is not a good NFL quarterback.
/smh
September 14th, 2011 at 7:11 PM
Alex Smith is not a good QB. Correct. I said in the right situation he could be decent.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:12 PM
Totally agree with that, I just would have liked to have seen him get a shot in the regular season after outperforming the other QB’s, Singletary didn’t even give him a shot. Everyone already knows what you have with Alex Smith, but for some reason the Niners insist on rolling him out there.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:13 PM
Yes, but he can’t go back to the NCAA so there is no right situation for him.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:15 PM
Just sucks bein a huge fan only to seem him fail 75% of the time.
Wish the Niners could have tried to get Orton, or even pick up Garrard.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:18 PM
Totally agree on Orton, that would have been a good move. Not sure why they haven’t at least worked out Garrard, or kicked the tires on him. Haven’t heard anything out here about him.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:02 PM
Edwards probably won’t/can’t win, but I have no doubt the people he accuses are slime who thought what amounts to an extortion plot would go their way.
