Corporate $ Day continues…
September 15th, 2011 at 2:03 PM
Fox sports is 3rd? I never go there.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:04 PM
Bleacher Report is annoying even in graph form. Hilarious.

So, $1 Jimmy John’s was a better idea than originally thought. First of all, they had 18 workers in the tiny ass kitchen they have, along with 3 guys outside taking your order and writing it down on a pad so the cashiers have it easy. Anyways, took 2 minutes and I got my sub, and took a seat by the front window.
There was this girl standing outside, not in line, not taking orders, just standing there by the rest of the people … in yoga pants. And she filled them out quite nicely (by which I mean phenomenally). So I had my lunch, while she stood out there, and it was all wonderful.

I have been waiting for this. My favorite post of the month!

Yoga pants are so wonderful when worn by the right woman.

One of the few times of the year I’m on here all day, and this must be the worst day of posts I’ve seen.

This day has been a shit show.

Not a fan of Janoff sublime interview with a recording of a press conference?

TBL — If you could divulge the information, I would be curious as to how many hits only this site gets. I’m sure this has been asked before, but I never remember seeing a clear answer.

natives are restless, I see.
Fear not, there’s a football game tonight. That will ease the pain
September 15th, 2011 at 2:12 PM
That soccer game is kinda popular, and I’m sure fox soccer channel is part of fox sports

We are fine when the game is on, we just need something to get us through this work day.

Yes. I’m hoping every LSU game is down to the wire so Les Miles does something batshit insane, and it will work. He is the greatest.

September 15th, 2011 at 2:14 PM

Any time this year, jerk. It would be a first
September 15th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
and my productivity today has tripled. my boss thanks you TBL.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
i dont know the answer. all i heard from TBL HQ was we were up 8% from last August. our best months historically have been football months (Sept-February). i’d guess we’re a tiny fraction of the overall #. i’ll be seeing the big brass soon and can ask if you really care.

This x100. I love Les and want him involved in as many close games as possible.

In unrelated news, I have to get gifts for a friend of mine getting married next month, and every gift left is over $200. Should I call shenanigans on that? Or should I just shut up and continue to be broke, seeing as I’m the best man?
September 15th, 2011 at 2:19 PM
tiny fraction of the overall #
Really? Who gets the big #s? Aren’t prefootball/baseball/basketball-reference.com under the BLS banner?
September 15th, 2011 at 2:19 PM
Fox sports is 3rd? I never go there.
I imagine both Fox sports and Yahoo sports get great benefit from the people who go to their main pages and click a “sports” story they’re interested in. Not necessarily sports people looking for sports, but people clicking on Tom Brady Baby Son Penis Controversy, because it’s weird and interesting. And cock.

I only ask because personally, I come to this site multiple times during the work day and multiple times when I get home. But I have been to the sister sites <20 times. I feel like I'm not alone when I say this. I would be curious to the percentage that this site gets relative to the rest of Big Lead Sports.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:20 PM
In the awesome news front…my new TV is being delivered tomorrow. Nearly a week ahead of schedule.
I will have three TVs going for football this weekend.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:20 PM
I think there’s just so many sites under the FSV Network that TBL may be right on his percentage. Not that those sights are killing it, but there’s a lot of them.

Gift card to the store they are registered at. This way the stuff they don’t get is usually %10 off. It’s a win win

gift card to the place they’re registered, for what you can afford. Or just change the name on one of the cards at the wedding. That’s the cheapest way.

Sounds like you should have thought of this a long time ago.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:21 PM
I told the people who were in my wedding that I wouldn’t accept gifts from them. Being in someone’s wedding usually costs the dude $150+, so I would have felt like a dick had I expected a gift.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:21 PM

you’re supposed to give them presents. We had to buy necklaces for my wife’s 2 friends.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:23 PM
You mean the bachelor party I dropped a grand on? I work in radio. Money is foreign to me.
I’m thinking of just doing what some of you had said, and get them gift cards. Thanks.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:23 PM
What post?
September 15th, 2011 at 2:24 PM
The place was absolutely packed, no way I could get away with that one without another chick seeing it and calling me a perv.
“Customer Appreciation Day” – $1 subs, and like I just said above, packed house.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:26 PM
I did, actually. I got them a bottle of liquor from where their family origins were, but I also wanted to make sure they didn’t get me anything.

Last night, there was a quality comment in the Curtis Leskanic post – personal friend of Curtis who “makes no excuses” for what he did, but then makes excuses.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:32 PM
That guy in the Trojan vibrator ad seemed pretty excited that his wife got one of those. Just a thought, GSG
September 15th, 2011 at 2:32 PM
No they don’t.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:33 PM
My wife gave her bridesmaids a whole bunch of shit. I gave my guys monogrammed scotch glasses (set of 4) and a Best Buy gift card.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:34 PM
/candlesticks make a nice gift
No they don’t.
in the book The Corrections, the two miserable parents always showed up with teakwood salad bowls sets. Similarly awful gift.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:35 PM
My wife’s parents are friends with this super rich dude. His gift was the one we were most looking forward to. Then we opened it and saw some crappy (albiet surely expensive) candlesticks. Total bummer.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:36 PM
I say gift card/cash for what you can afford. I agree re: being the best man/in the wedding. You’ve already shelled out cash for the bachelor party/to be in the thing don’t worry about giving a HUGE gift. At a minimum, give enough to “pay” for your dinner.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:36 PM
They’re getting a $200 gift card to Tattoo Lous on LI (he’s covered in tattoos and wants more) and $200 Bed Bath & Beyond, for all their wedded bliss needs.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:36 PM
Thanks Roethlishotdog.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:37 PM
The best part is, after my wife and I got married, we created a spreadsheet with what everyone got (mainly to facilitate remembering what to write on the thank you card).
Now, when we go to someone else’s wedding who was at ours, we just check to see what they gave us and give the same thing back.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:37 PM
My wife and I got everyone in the wedding party engraved Boots. The drinking kind, not the kind you put on your feet. They were very well received.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:37 PM
I think we had a similar discussion on this yesterday, but this is what I feel as well.
My Dad brings a blank check to the wedding and writes the check in the bathroom before giving the card. So if its a shitty wedding, you’re not tied to over-giving.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:39 PM
in the book The Corrections
I feel like that book is the exemplar of Jonathan Franzen’s writing. just good enough to trick people into believing it’s great but not particularly profound or personal in any way. That guy bugs me and that was half a great book. The first half. Once the parents fall over the railing the whole thing went to hell
September 15th, 2011 at 2:39 PM
You got 28 fucking points from Wes fucking Welker!! That’s how you were so close! Enough said.
well, yeah, i had him as a starter didn’t I? that’s good Gm-ing
September 15th, 2011 at 2:39 PM
A friend of mine had bobble heads made for his best men. I thought that was pretty cool.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:40 PM
engraved Boots. The drinking kind, not the kind you put on your feet.
Engraved Uggs are going to be added to my list of expectations for any wedding I am involved in for the rest of my life
September 15th, 2011 at 2:40 PM
And by best men I mean groomsmen.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:41 PM

I never read another, but I no longer have a train commute either. I enjoyed the book, but it was truly, truly painful.

Maybe you can get Yahoo! to serve as corporate sponsor for this post next time around.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:43 PM
Speaking of gift cards, will Visa gift cards work on sites like Bodog or sportsbook? I’m pretty sure they need to be internationally enabled, but that info was nowhere to be found on the one I just recently looked at.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:44 PM
maybe you can!
September 15th, 2011 at 2:47 PM
I gave my groomsmen framed photographs of Pittsburgh sports memories (Immaculate Reception, Maz’s homer, Holmes’ catch in the Super Bowl, etc.)
Worst groomsmen I ever received was a pocketwatch. It collects dust in a drawer.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:52 PM
I’ve gotten pilsners, a pretty sweet monogrammed money clip and Cristal, and a trip to AC with a free dinner at Ruth Chris. Nothing terrible so far as my gifts for being a groomsmen.
September 15th, 2011 at 2:57 PM
I told the people who were in my wedding that I wouldn’t accept gifts from them. Being in someone’s wedding usually costs the dude $150+, so I would have felt like a dick had I expected a gift.
This … plus the comment about the bachelor party. My bm was MORE than willing to pay for mine.

Friend of mine got tickets for the season finale @ Sun Life Stadium (Nats visiting) – 1st base line, 9th row, aisle seat, $1 + $1 tax.
