Team USA clinched the Presidents Cup against the International team, when Tiger Woods closed out Aaron Baddeley in relatively easy fashion, 4 & 3, in the next to last singles match of the day. The final match score was 19-15 USA.

The American golfers came into the day with a 13-9 lead in the match play event, and the International team needed to have a decisive day with at least 8 wins in the 12 head to head matches. They got off to a fast start, as Masters winner Charl Schwartzel, K.T. Kim, and Ryo Ishikawa won the first three matches to tee off in Melbourne, Australia, to pull it within 13-12.

Jim Furyk, though, defeated Ernie Els 4&3 and finished the tournament with a perfect match record, and from there the United States righted themselves until Woods provided the finishing stroke. Team USA has now won 7 of the 9 Presidents Cups against the best International players outside of Europe.
