Coastal Carolina’s New Football Coach is the Billionaire Who Used to be the CEO of Ameritrade
College Football December 20th. 2011, 1:02pm
Joe Moglia has a career arc that is movie-worthy: college degree in economics, then football coach for 16 years. Then he went to Wall Street to work for Merrill Lynch and yada, yada, yada, he became the CEO of TD Ameritrade. During his time on the street, he turned into a billionaire. Then he went to Nebraska to be an unpaid volunteer assistant coach. Then he became the Omaha Nighthawks (UFL) president and head coach.
Next step? Head coach at Coastal Carolina.
Can the 61-year-old Moglia turn Costal Carolina into an FCS power? The program only started in 2003, but it has already won or shared the Big South conference title four times.
Actors who might fit the Moglia role if it is made into a film: Will Patton, Liam Neeson, and Al Pacino.

Can’t believe Coastal fired this guy after the success he’s had.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:11 PM
since when is Wall Street “the street?”
December 20th, 2011 at 1:11 PM
So will their offense favor the spread or the option?
December 20th, 2011 at 1:12 PM
Based on Moglia’s breasts alone, I’d have Chaz Bono in for a table read.

yes, nothing more compelling than watching a movie abouta bored billionaire who wants to coach football.
the movie would probably be changed into an Adam Sandler comedy vehicle or a will smith/Denzel washington family drama.
although, a quentin tarantino version starring Christoph Waltz would be fantastic.

I’m sure Ameritrade screwed over a bunch of people on his watch, and helped contribute to the subprime mortgage crisis and economic collapse.

The Big South is absolutely horrible. The last time they won it they did so with an overall .500 record. One of those conferences that wouldn’t be represented if it weren’t for the new playoff format, which sucks ass.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:27 PM
I’ve very much enjoyed his work as Patrick.
