The Towson Tigers went 0 for 2011, but 2012 is off to a better start. Today, Towson beat UNC-Wilmington at home 66-61 to end a 41-game losing streak. Towson was 0-22 entering this game, and had lost the final 19 games of last season. They came by their position honestly, as among the 345 Division I programs, they ranked 344th in points per game (48.8) and 343rd in field goal percentage (36.1%).

Towson’s biggest claim to fame before the win this season was Bill Murray’s son being an assistant coach, so at least they’ve got that going for them, which is nice. And now that they’ve fallen back on superior firepower and superior intelligence against the Seahawks, that’s all she wrote for the losing streak.
