Tiquan Underwood and His Hi-Top Fade Released the Day Before the Super Bowl
NFL February 4th. 2012, 7:25pm
On Tuesday, Tiquan Underwood shaved the Patriots logo into the back of his head to go along with his sweet hi-top fade. Today, Bill Belichick released Underwood to make room for defensive end Alex Silvestro. Underwood appeared in 5 games during the regular season as well as both Patriots playoff games. While he didn’t register a catch, his hair made him impossible to ignore on shots of the sidelines.
If you want to get bummed out, read these quotes from Underwood in the Herald on Thursday:
“Man, it’s like a dream actually for it to work out like this,” Underwood said. “I’m just being grateful. I’m not going to take it for granted. Just live in the moment.
“I watched a lot of Super Bowls growing up, dreamed about playing in the Super Bowl. For this to actually happen, it’s just a dream come true,” he said.
He will be missed.
Update: A reader e-mailed to say that Underwood and Silvestro were teammates at Rutgers. I don’t know if that makes it better or worse for Underwood.

Yeesh, he didnt die. He’ll just go hang out and watch the game with Ross Ventrone, who everyone should actually have more sympathy for. He’ll be back next year.

Classy reaction to the polar opposite of classy.

FWIW, waiting till Saturday was that so the Giants couldnt pick him up. Probably was planned all along.

Why aren’t the Giants signing this guy, like, right now? Is waivers still in effect this late in the season?
Presumably he’s been in every relevant team meeting and practice these past two week…
February 4th, 2012 at 9:09 PM
Yes. Once again, thats why this happened today. He wouldnt be available to pick up until Monday.
February 4th, 2012 at 11:22 PM
Probably could sign him as a consultant for just this game.
February 5th, 2012 at 12:30 AM
Right, he might not be able to play, but he could still pull a Lawyer Milloy and give them game plan info, etc.

he still gets a ring if the pats win, still gets a full player share if the pats win. if he gives the giants information and the pats lose he gives up about $22,000 or so. if the giants paid him for that info and circumvented the waiver wire process it would probably be a bigger black eye on the NFL than spygate*
