Ballin’: Jimmer Fredette Outduels Ricky Rubio, But Timberwolves Win to Go Over .500
NBA, Video February 8th. 2012, 11:08amSacramento 84, Minnesota 86: No Kevin Love, no problem for the Timberwolves, who improved to 13-12 by holding off the hard-charging Jimmer Fredettes. (Make sure to watch that video. At the 2:27 mark – “turn on the sprinkler systems, Jimmer Fredette is on fire!”) Ricky Rubio dominated the highlights (14 assists, five steals), but it was Nikola Pekovic, a 3rd year center from Yugoslavia, who dominated offensively (23 points, 10 rebounds). Rookie Derrick Williams was clutch, hitting a tie-breaker triple in the final minute.
This might be one of the coolest alley-oops I’ve seen this season. Looked like something out of a halftime show. Interesting that the guy who finished that dunk, Wes Johnson, has been hammered in Minnesota recently.
Miami 107, Cleveland 91: Chris Bosh dunked, Wade scored 26 and LeBron scored 24 and the Heat remained just two wins back of the Bulls in the win column in the East. It’s their best record in franchise history after 25 games.
Milwaukee 105, Phoenix 107: Steve Nash celebrated his 38th birthday by scoring the game-winning basket to complete an 18-point, 11-assist night.
Oklahoma City 119, Golden State 116: Monta Ellis went off for 48 points, David Lee had a triple double (25-11-10) and the Warriors shot 55 percent at home … but still lost when Kevin Durant banked home the game-winner with :14 left. Must be nice to have young legs – the Thunder needed overtime Monday in Portland to beat the Blazers, then Durant and Westbrook came back Tuesday and logged 44 and 43 minutes respectively to get another victory to improve to 20-5, tops in the NBA.
Indiana 104, Utah 99: So the Jazz are having trouble defending point guards. A night after Jeremy Lin torched them for 28, Darren Collison shot 10-of-14 and scored 25 points to go with zero turnovers as the Pacers improved to 17-7.

Pacers might have a shot at a first round playoff series with home court.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:14 AM
If you can’t defend point guards you might as well get Nash and just outscore people.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:15 AM
Only because he’s a terrible basketball player. King of like a rich man’s Jimmer.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:15 AM
For video gamers out there. Really sweet trailer.

The Red Wings haven’t lost at home in three months. That’s crazy!

“You don’t see Kobe (Bryant) tweeting,” Perkins said, according to the report. “You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you.
“At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play. They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2,” Perkins added, according to the report. “I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.”
February 8th, 2012 at 11:30 AM
That game was a prime example why they need to trade Nash now. They are going to hover around or below .500 as long as Steve is there because the shitty players you surrounded him with will occasionally hit their wide open shots. Don’t want to draft in the 11-14 range.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:30 AM
What the fuck is Daulerio’s problem?
February 8th, 2012 at 11:33 AM
That game was a prime example why
they need to trade Nash nowthe bucks are a clusterfuck./gooden pussies out on D on the suns’last possession, gives nash layup
//can’t get a shot off after a TO with 5 SECONDS left
February 8th, 2012 at 11:35 AM
I don’t think there are 100,000 people in the world who would care if the Bucks got contracted/moved…free up our FSN here to show TWolves games or something, anything else
February 8th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
Agreed. Bucks are a clusterfuck but right now so are the Suns. I want them to go from clusterfuck to wizardry. Thus trade nash.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:36 AM
Forgive me for not following the Bucks, but why was Gooden playing defense at the end of a game? THey couldnt substitute for him defensively? He’s been a terrible help defender his whole career.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:38 AM
What the fuck is Daulerio’s problem?
I don’t get it?

Same guy who turned Suarez into a national hero at the World Cup.
Probably vacuumed a few Hollywoods up his nose in the Gawker bathroom and felt like fucking with everyone.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:42 AM
It was amazing how much the crowd favored the Bulls in Milwaukee a few days ago.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
Same thing happens at Brewer games. Not to as severe a degree because the Brewers are actually good and have fans, but there’s a reason it’s jokingly referred to as Wrigley North. Milwaukee is such an easy drive from here. Miller Park is a nice facility. Can’t say the same about the Bradley Center though.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
What have the Bucks done to create fans? I mean they had a few good runs, it’s not like they are like the 76ers winning to empty arenas. When the team is good it seems they have good support. Charlotte and N.O. are some train wrecks the league should deal with long before any issue with the Bucks is brought up.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:47 AM
I like that Perkins went in on Lebron, but it also doesn’t make total sense since Durant and Westbrook tweet all the time.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:49 AM
Eric Gordon (injured, won’t resign)
Chris Kaman (can’t trade, apparently)
The T-Wolves lottery pick (which won’t be a lottery pick)
Yeah, that CP3 trade is really paying dividends!
February 8th, 2012 at 11:49 AM
And the Kings.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:49 AM
Pacers might have a shot at a first round playoff series with home court
Probably better off on the road. Our fans suck hard
February 8th, 2012 at 11:50 AM
T-Wolves trade should still be lottery. It’ll just be shitty, like 13.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:50 AM

All of this right here. When they had the Big Three… those games were packed… they sold out every playoff game, the same cannot be said for places like Atlanta, Charlotte, N.O or Philly. Then they went and traded away the fans’ favorite player (Ray Allen) for JACK SHIT. So now they’re stuck watching garbage while watching the player everyone loved still contribute in Boston. From about 1990 on… outside that 2 or 3 year stretch with the big 3… 2000-2003ish, the franchise has been an absolute embarrassment. They have a lot of history, the 1980′s they had great rivalries with philly and boston, and played them almost every year in the playoffs… the fans will come if they are shown they have a competent owner/GM and a likeable team. This team does not have any of those qualities.
FUCK GEORGE KARL.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:52 AM
What have the Bucks done to create fans?
IMO this is why they shouldnt have a team, they have done nothing to put a quality product on the court. Look at some of their free agent signings the last few years. Its like ownership doesnt even care about winning at all. And thats why ownership doesnt deserve the privlage of owning the team, if they dont want to compete they should sell and if they wont sell contract them
February 8th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
IMO this is why they shouldnt have a team, they have done nothing to put a quality product on the court
So the clippers (until this year), mets, browns, and dolphins and pirates (and many more) should all be contracted to?
Look at some of their free agent signings the last few years. Its like ownership doesnt even care about winning at all.
That’s not true either… they spend money… lots of it.. they just spend it on dumb players like drew gooden or anthony mason or DAN FUCKING GADZURIC!
If they didn’t care about winning at all, they wouldn’t throw all that money away.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
The Bucks have been very unlucky with getting the #1 pick in a year where there was no consensus franchise changer.
Plus, that player (Bogut) turned out to be really good, but has been unlucky with injuries.
February 8th, 2012 at 11:59 AM

That too.. got the #1 pick the year after the lebron/wade/carmelo draft. Bogut is solid, but he’s never healthy, and definitely not an elite player to build a franchise around.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
So the clippers (until this year), mets, browns, and dolphins and pirates (and many more) should all be contracted to?
Sometimes I feel like you say dumb shit just to argue. Yes the Clips should have been contracted, their owner is a racist pig who after 20-something years FINALLY got lucky. The Mets were a competitive team until about 4-5 years ago. The Dolphins won more games than almost every franchise in football between 1990 and the early 2000s. Nothing to say about the Pirates, they are a mess. My point is that if ownership doesnt want to put out a good product and all they care about is continuing to put money in their pockets then maybe they should not be allowed to own the team.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
So, it’s not the same thing at all? I was at the Bucks/Bulls game and it was 95% Bulls fans. I don’t think that should surprise anyone given how good the Bulls are, how unwatchable the Bucks are, the proximity to Chicago and the fact the Jordan produced fan base has made Bulls fans all over the country.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
You must not watch much orange roundy.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Rockets fans feel your pain. They got the lottery pick (Yao) one year early, and their pick is done.
In other words, shut the fuck up.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
NBA is watered down now, there are 4 or 5 teams that should seriusly be looked at for contraction. They dont win, the fans dont show up, and the owners dont give a shit. Its a fact.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
My point is that if ownership doesnt want to put out a good product and all they care about is continuing to put money in their pockets then maybe they should not be allowed to own the team.
Then your point is dumb… because they’re losing money hand over fist every single year while paying drew gooden and dan gadzuric 36 million dollars.
Also, you going to just disregard the 70′s and 80′s, when the bucks won a ton of games and a title? The dolphins haven’t been relevant in a decade, but we should keep them because they were good a long time ago, but with the bucks it’s different. Got it.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:06 PM
The Rockets tanked to get Hakeem, then got gifted another top 2 pick when Stevie Francis refused to go to Canada. Fuck Houston.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:06 PM
@me0713 – the owner of the Bucks is Senator Kohl. He cares a lot about the team which is why he didn’t sell the team to Jordan. He also spends money, they just haven’t had anyone reliable to build around since 2001. Just a couple years ago, they were a horrific Bogut injury away from possibly making a deep run in the playoffs.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:07 PM
There’s no way the Bucks should be moved or contracted.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:07 PM
The Rockets never tanked. They sucked outright back then.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:11 PM
Then your point is dumb…
Right, my point is dumb that they havent done anything to win, nobody is showing up and the league is watered down. The Dolphins have had a couple bad seasons over the last few years. I would hardly compare them to the Bucks. The Bucks are just an example of the problem, you can take your pick from Sac, Cha, NO, Tor. And you helped make my point for a team that hasnt been realavant in 30 years man.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
Ray Allen, Sam Cassell and the Big Dog would like to have a word with you.
/Free Scott Williams
February 8th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
I say contract the Lakers and that should help out the poorer franchises.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
Right, my point is dumb that they havent done anything to win
link? what would you suggest they do? they paid Michael Redd 90 million dollars so he wouldn’t leave. Michael Redd!
The Dolphins have had a couple bad seasons over the last few years. I would hardly compare them to the Bucks.
the bucks were in the playoffs 2 years ago! and took the 3 seed(?) 7 games.
I’m done with you though, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:13 PM
/Free Scott Williams
such bullshit. cost them that game.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:14 PM
He cares a lot about the team
Then bring someone in who knows what they are doing instead of spending money on Drew Gooden
February 8th, 2012 at 12:14 PM
the bucks are a dumpster fire, as I’ve said many times before. but not for the reasons me0713 is contending.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Thanks for that tribute video Milwaukee. Its probably the reason Redd scored double digits.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
I’m done with you though, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about
Im devastated.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:18 PM
They brought in John Hammond who was Joe Dumars #2 in Detroit during their heydey so it wasn’t some awful hire. Plus, since he’s left Detroit, Dumars has really worked wonders…
And Gooden has been actually playing fairly well. 25 last night, 24 the game before. At least know what you’re talking about and make fun of the GM for drating Joe Alexander in the top 10.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Bucks have good fans. No way should they be moved. Because they are an unpopular midwest city? Atlanta, Philly, Miami etc are worse. In 5 years do we contract the Spurs. Contraction is never going to happen. Sacremento is a good NBA city. Their owners are overleveraged and they are in a state that is giving little-to-zero money for arenas. That’s not the fans fault.
All the NBA needs is 1-2 markets that pose the threat of taking a team and the market forces will remain. Not every city is going to be the model of economic progress all the time.
Miami rated most miserable city in the USA. They aren’t even selling out all their games. Contract the Heat
/idiot logic
February 8th, 2012 at 12:20 PM

Larry Sanders feels left out.

Miami rated most miserable city in the USA. They aren’t even selling out all their games. Contract the Heat
My point is not just fan interest, its a combo of a number of things. Maybe Im off about the Bucks but what do you do about owners like the Maloofs? If Sac has such great fans why would you allow them to run the team into the ground? Or move the team? My point is the owners should be held responsible, maybe up and moving them is the wrong idea but something should be done if they put a shitty product out night after night
February 8th, 2012 at 12:24 PM
God willing.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:27 PM
Name them.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:27 PM
what do you do about owners like the Maloofs
The owners are quite comfortable having terrible owners in the league. Sports team ownership is a proven growth commodity in the long haul. Teams are not league owned so as long as the idiot Maloofs dont rock the NBA boat too much they can be terrible owners for a log time.
Look at the CLE Indians from 1965-1990. There are going to be spells in all sports where terrible ownership exists. Sucks only for the fans. The players get paid all the same and owners make money all the same.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:31 PM
Name them.
Toronto, Charlotte, New Orleans (Nobody even wants to buy them), and you could argue Sacramento
February 8th, 2012 at 12:31 PM
Hornets, Bobcats, Kings, Bucks and Timberwolves (don’t be fooled by the latter having a decent team now, at some point those players will leave) for starters…not sure what kind of support the Grizzlies have but they could also be on the chopping block
February 8th, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Regardless of how many teams get axed or added, there are still going to be elite teams and shit-awful teams. Nothing will change that.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:35 PM
For the record Im not blaming the fans, I was a huge basketball fan growing up and I rooted for the Lakers because I thought Magic was the greatest, but also because the Nets were god awful. Year after year. The fans arent going to show up if you dont make it worth their hard earned money
February 8th, 2012 at 12:36 PM
And it’s to the league’s benefit to keep teams in some markets (TOR, ATL) that help the national media platform even if their fan loyalty or local revenue are sketchy.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:36 PM
Thats why I suggest we chop from the top down. Get rid of the elite franchises and then we won’t know the shit-awful from just the awful. Redistribution of wealth if you will.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:37 PM
Timberwolves and Raptors aren’t going and shouldn’t go anywhere. That’s just crazy talk. Now Bobcats and Hornets, I could be talked into. And, the Grizzlies have finally built something, so no to that too.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:43 PM
The easiest way to prop up some of these shitty teams would be contracting the Heat. Split the three sisters up among the worst teams in the league.
February 8th, 2012 at 12:46 PM
Thats why I suggest we chop from the top down. Get rid of the elite franchises and then we won’t know the shit-awful from just the awful. Redistribution of wealth if you will.
