Jeremy Lin is Inspired by Tim Tebow
NBA, NFL, Tim Tebow February 10th. 2012, 12:45pm
Jeremy Lin is the Tim Tebow of the NBA. *sigh* There’s no fighting it. Sure, Tebow is a meathead NCAA champion drafted in the first round who has been a media darling for years and Jeremy Lin is an undrafted, unheralded player who attended Harvard and no one had ever heard of until a week ago, but they’re basically the same person.
See, they’ve both won some games against weak teams and they both believe in the Notorious G-O-D. That’s why Lin finds inspiration in Tebow.
“Actually a lot of inspiration just because [Tebow's] such a polarizing figure but I think the things he says in interviews, his approach to the game is just unbelievable and I respect him so much. I want to be able to do some of the things that he does in terms of the amount of charity work and the non-profit work, and the way he impacts people off the field. I think that is what is most inspiring to me about him.”
The next logical step is for Lin to make some sort of gesture that people can emulate and refer to as “Linning.” Only then will we truly understand how sick we are of Jeremy Lin. The other option is Amar’e and Carmelo come back and Lin never touches the ball again.

So this dude has a big game against the Wizards and now he is a phenom? What am I missing here?
February 10th, 2012 at 12:48 PM
The Internet just imploded upon itself.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:51 PM
This is just fucking stupid
February 10th, 2012 at 12:51 PM
He’s had more than one great game, but I smell your point.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:52 PM
Never heard of him
February 10th, 2012 at 12:54 PM
And I just spent 5 minutes searching for “white people making chinese eyes” and “chinky eyes” and various permutations. Today the internet disappoints, but you get the gist.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:54 PM
He did it for New York City. I mean, do you know how hard it is to win in New York City?
February 10th, 2012 at 12:54 PM
That picture of Tebow cracks me up.
“Hey girl heyyyyyy!”
February 10th, 2012 at 12:55 PM
What am I missing here?
He’s the first bit of unexpected good news for the team in NYC.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:56 PM
Just did a quick search around the internet and yup this site is in the lead for Jeremy Lin posts.
/no i didn’t check Knicks blogs
February 10th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
Just a few more wins and they’ll be .500 since the Carmelo trade!
February 10th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
Why is Kelsey Grammer interviewing Tebow?
February 10th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
He was cut by the Rockets and picked up by the Knicks. He hadn’t played enough all year and when he finally got his opportunity, he showed that he could play well. That is the story.
February 10th, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Lin will close the day too, FYI.
if you’re not stocked for Lin v Kobe tonight, not sure we can be friends.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:00 PM
/takes JMac off my Christmas card list
February 10th, 2012 at 1:00 PM
I’m excited to see Kobe drop 50 in MSG. I’ve never seen Lin play, but it looks like he can actually do something with a ball, unlike Tebow.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:03 PM
if you’re not stocked for Lin v Kobe tonight, not sure we can be friends.
I don’t think we were to begin with, so no harm done.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:03 PM
I suppose I could get like half of a chub going.
/you mean stoked
February 10th, 2012 at 1:05 PM
Also, The Shinning > Linning.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:05 PM
I MEAN IS EVERYONE GOING TO PRETEND THAT JIMMER ISN’T ALIVE ANYMORE?!?!?! THE JIMMERS EVEN WON LAST NIGHT! JIMMER!!!!!!!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:06 PM
Your gear is weak, young jason.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:07 PM
Kobe is gonna drop 50 tonight against the Knicks.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:07 PM
if you’re not stocked for Lin v Kobe tonight, not sure we can be friends
The Mamba will be merciless.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
I feel this will be partly true. I think his scoring is going to go down, but he should be able to still run pick and rolls with Amare/Tyson and his assist numbers will still remain up there.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
Even Mamba isn’t stoked for Kobe vs Lin tonight. Not that it really matters.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
if you’re not stocked for Lin v Kobe tonight, not sure we can be friends.
I guess we arent friends then
February 10th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
but can we agree that he didn’t blow by Wall on a crossover?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
ATTN Seamheads: MLB.tv has officially gone on sale today. Early bird special of $129 for premium. Now XBox compatible. No Wii yet though (sorry CJ).
You can get MiLB.tv for an extra $20 too. I got it seeing as how the Cubs most interesting viewing will take place below the major league level this year.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:09 PM
There is going to be a nice grace period when the whole band is back together. But there is going to be the inevitable loss or close game where things will come to a head and Melo will have to make a decision. Provided Lin is still playing decent basketball by that time.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:11 PM
Yipee!
Im still kind of pissed that I have to pay for the app again
February 10th, 2012 at 1:12 PM
Will be watching Bulls-Bobcats. Sorry Jason. Then the Hawks-Sharks game starts at 9:30 here. No time for Dim Sum.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:12 PM
Actually just pulled it up – its 124.99
February 10th, 2012 at 1:12 PM
CJ! NOPE! Premium subscription includes the at-bat app this year! YAY!

February 10th, 2012 at 1:14 PM
What is the at bat app? I’m gathering that it’s a way to watch on your phone? Is that available as a stand-alone product?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:15 PM
care for a wager on that?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:15 PM
Sold.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:15 PM
You can get At-Bat on your phone but if you don’t buy MLB.tv all you get are the radio feeds.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:16 PM
!!!!!
It’s sticking!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:16 PM
Plus watch over 150 Spring Training games with no blackout restrictions
Sold.
I’m considering it. It could be the only time I see the Astros not suck this year.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:16 PM
I’m officially psyched for baseball. Tomorrow is truck day. Fuck Jeremy Lin.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:16 PM
Is Kobe playing point guard now?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:17 PM
I like when CJ gets sassy and talks shit about basketball.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:17 PM
If you paid me 124.99 to watch 1 baseball game I wouldnt be able to do it.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
Haven’t been this jacked for a season since 2004. That one disappointed. I’ve got faith this one will not. My expectations for the big club are so low that it’ll be hard to not meet them.
Now I want to go get my glove out of my closet and go play catch.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
Jeremy Lin is a virgin?
/Damn misleading headlines
February 10th, 2012 at 1:19 PM
Sometimes I really want to fight you. Just kick you square in the baby maker. Or step on you.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:20 PM
I got dissed by this guy(Ring Of Honor World Champ Davey Dichards) for writing this
February 10th, 2012 at 1:20 PM
We’re in a similar spot, ms. The DisAstros will suck as bad as the Cubs this year but we’re both on the path to clearing payroll, have real live baseball people steering the ship and get to watch some young kids that are fighting for big money on their next contract. Our baseball viewing is going to be fun for the next 3-5 years at least.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:20 PM
Anyone create a yahoo tbl baseball league yet?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:20 PM
It’s cute seeing people get excited for pitchers and & catchers reporting next week. I didn’t know two dudes playing catch would move the needle.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:22 PM
/pitches tent
February 10th, 2012 at 1:22 PM
Ditto. Fuck you baseball haters.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:23 PM
MS: over or under 59 wins for the ‘stros this year…???
February 10th, 2012 at 1:23 PM
Was in NYC last summer and I kept trying to watch baseball when I was in bars with TV. It was not physically possible. My eyes kept wondering to the liquor shelf and mentally checking off each bottle I’ve drank. Figuring which liquor I’ve drank was much more exciting.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:23 PM
It does for some of us.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:24 PM
/team power bottom
February 10th, 2012 at 1:24 PM
One of the greatest parts of spring training are the daily pictures of the guys working out in sunny weather and knowing that spring is just soo so close. Perhaps its a northern states thing.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:25 PM
*slow clap*
Outstanding.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:25 PM
I understand baseball isn’t for everyone. I can’t watch soccer. Some people don’t like baseball. Whatevs. So long as you’re not one of those guys that shows up to a game just to tell me how much it’s boring you, I’m cool with y’all not watching the thinking man’s game.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:26 PM
Oh, no. God no!
There’s also a bit of latent arrogance in that. If you can’t see the awesome in what I find awesome, you are beneath me.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:26 PM
I try to like it, I really do. But my hometown professional baseball team tells me to go fuck myself every year.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:26 PM
Did Terry Francona get hired by ESPN? Is he gonna be on Baseball Tonight?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:27 PM
You could go down there and enjoy the nice weather before spring comes but, ya know, you’re cheap and stuff.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:27 PM
Absolutely. Also, at what point is it appropriate to start throwing around keeper questions?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:27 PM
Ditto. Fuck you baseball haters.
I have no desire to watch the Mets this season.
Anyone stoked for Liverpool ManU tomorrow?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
I believe so. He’ll be doing games for sure. Doesn’t really matter cause
MLB Network > ESPN
February 10th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
Fire away. Make sure you include your scoring system.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
Definitely have to make it down to Ft Myers one of these years
February 10th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
They’ll get better, just give it a few years when Cole, Taillion, Allie and Josh Bell are up. Just hope that your ownership isn’t cheap and resigns McCutchen.
Now this I can understand.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:28 PM
The sun is pure evil
/works outside in the summer
February 10th, 2012 at 1:29 PM
I am excited for Brian Kenny this year. He got hired so late in the season last year that I wasn’t watching a ton of MLBN but rather just games on MLB.tv.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:29 PM
You lit that fire at Citi Field last year, didn’t you?
February 10th, 2012 at 1:30 PM
Certainly excited to have a beer at 7:45 in the morning.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:31 PM
I am STOCKED too see Dim Sum put up a triple-double against Derek Fisher corpse tonight!!!!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:36 PM
You lit that fire at Citi Field last year, didn’t you?
I was a flaming bag of fresh Central Park horseshit.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:36 PM
I’ve actually been trying with soccer, but I think I only soccer when the National Team plays. Or, if an EPL team is on that has an American guy.
As for being ready for baseball, I was there the second I lived in a world where Eli Manning was a 2-time Super Bowl champion.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:36 PM
*it goddammit!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:37 PM
DIM SUM!!!!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:37 PM
Had a nice road trip to Citi Field last year; definitely plan on going again. Nice yard.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:37 PM

February 10th, 2012 at 1:39 PM
stocked eh? well good luck uh…what does stocked mean?
See #14
February 10th, 2012 at 1:39 PM
Nice yard.
Yeah, too bad it’s filled with a shit team. It’s like Camden Yards of the NL.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:40 PM
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:41 PM
It means he gets results, you stupid chief!
February 10th, 2012 at 1:42 PM
Great stadium, but after a couple visits, the morbid vibe from the fans combined with a really rough team to watch makes for an unpleasant experience.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:43 PM
Lol
February 10th, 2012 at 1:47 PM
Hell and yes.
February 10th, 2012 at 1:51 PM
Zeke is itching to take back the helm in NY and trade Lin for Kwame Brown or something.
February 10th, 2012 at 2:33 PM
MS: over or under 59 wins for the ‘stros this year…???
HTown, sorry was at lunch. Over 59 wins, I’ll say, but not by much.
