Long Beach State led all game long, but could not hold on to a 10 point lead in the second half. Doug McDermott of Creighton was a beast in this game, finishing with 36 points and 11 rebounds. Creighton tied it with a minute left, then got the ball for one final possession after a Long Beach turnover.

Creighton solidified their NCAA spot, while Long Beach State took another tough road loss. Long Beach State has dominated the Big West, won at Pittsburgh, beat Xavier, and lost close games at North Carolina, Kansas, San Diego State, and now Creighton. I think they should be in as an at-large. If a power conference team went 14-1 non-conference then went 3-6 on the road in one of the best conferences in the country, and .500 overall in conference, they would be a no-brain choice. That’s basically the Bizarro version of Long Beach State, who took on all comers on the road and played them tough, and has dominated weaker competition.
