Cubs Fan Buys Domain for Red Sox New Spring Park, Redirects it to the Yankees Homepage
Baseball February 22nd. 2012, 7:47am
The Red Sox have a new spring training home aptly known as JetBlue Park at Fenway South. I imagine it’s a wonderfully posh facility with endless amenities, but the team forgot to do one simple thing: purchase the domain name for jetbluepark.com. As of this morning, typing that address in your browser will bring you to the Yankees homepage on MLB.
Here’s the reaction of Red Sox executive vice president and chief operating officer Sam Kennedy when he was informed yesterday afternoon:
“It does?” said Sam Kennedy. Kennedy then watched as Red Sox senior adviser Charlie Steinberg typed jetbluepark.com onto his phone. “We’re going to have to look into that … My reaction is that jetbluepark.com should go to redsox.com, not yankees.com.”
And my reaction is that Sam Kenndey’s reaction could have been far less lame. Sammy was no doubt the life of the party at the Red Sox Christmas gala.
The domain name was purchased by the devious Eric Engelman of Fort Myers last March when the Sox announced that JetBlue had secured the naming rights for the complex. He paid $8 for it using his wife’s GoDaddy account. I imagine he’ll be hearing from Kennedy and his team of unsettling cronies some time this morning, if he hasn’t already.

Oh those wacky Cubs fans. Must have a lot of time on their hands what with the lack of celebrating. Wonder if the Red Sox bought jetbluepark.xxx? Not yet.

The Sox could really just purchase JetBlueParkAtFenwaySouth.com or JetBlueParkDotCom.com and call it a day.

JetBlueParkDotCom.
I already own this dot org, but only because I wanted to see a skinny pseudo celebrity naked, and those commercials assured me she’d be naked online. Then I felt weird being at their online store and not buying anything, so I shopped up some domain names like that was the reason I was there in the first place.

You’ve likely doubled the number of people who know about this.

first, I’d like to say I’m extremely excited that the 17-second page load is back at TBL. and second, I’d like to say that I hope that Mr. Engelman of Fort Myers can sell the domain name to the Swox for lots of dollars.

Cubs fans probably feel like they won the pennant with this move.
Of course they have no idea how it feels to actually win a pennant.

People do this all the time. Douchey. A brilliant move would be to root for another team. It will be a while before Theo straightens the Cubs out.
