Oregon Cornerbacks Can’t Resist Topping 100 MPH on Interstate 5
College Football, Courts, Legal February 22nd. 2012, 12:26pm
Remember when former Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris tried to break the sound barrier in I-5 in Oregon last summer? The one-time NFL prospect reached 118 mph before getting pulled over and ticketed.
Oregon State cornerback Malcolm Marable apparently tried to top that last weekend. Marable, who like Harris also excelled on special teams, was driving a Nissan Altima on I-5 (just like Harris!). Marable hit 104 mph, which the Gazette Times says will result in a $1,050 ticket. Wait, there’s more! The parallels to the Harris traffic stop continue!
He was warned for failure to carry proof of insurance and failure to carry registration.
According to the citation, it was not his car.

Back in my day, this would have been a great “one-liner” in a gray box.

Fastest I’ve ever gone in a car: 115pmh
Fastest I’ve ever been cited for speeding: 97 in a 65 (but the cop knocked it down to 89)

If you’re going to get a ticket, might as well make it a good one

I’m now certain I’m not utilizing my Nissan Altima to it’s full capabilities.

I have 4 career speeding tickets. Cleveland, Podunk Ohio, Podunk Ohio, Raliegh — the last 2 were the same weekend. That was fun.

SG posted this gem in the mma thread, and somehow it’s the last comment.
I bet MR absolutely destroys trim in the late 30-40 year old demographic.

baseball.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:42 PM
Never had a speeding ticket. Suck it.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:42 PM
I think SG is younger than that…if that was the implication.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:42 PM
There really is something about a man who will get dirty..
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Ditto, and I’ve pushed my car to 110 on a 65.

I have hit black ice pretty bad before and nearly had a fun time playing chicken with a deer on I5 through Oregon. I wouldn’t recommend driving 100 on it.

I’ve learned on a couple occasions that the governor on a Chevy Avalanche kicks in pretty hard at 97.

I am, thank you very much.
Mike Rowe is hot – he has a sexy voice, he knows how to use tools (TWSS), he can sing, he’s got a great body, his ass looks awesome in work pants and jeans…

I think SG needs a few minutes by herself right now, if you know what I mean.

83 in a 55. Reckless driving, which was a class-one misdemeanor in that county. I had to hire a fucking lawyer to get it dropped down to improper driving. The whole thing cost me about $1000.

Oregon’s one of those weird states that won’t let you pump gas.

I don’t even know if I can count all the speeding tickets I’ve had.
10, I think.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:51 PM
118, huh? he wasn’t even close. “I’m going to throw a beisbol as fast as Nolan Ryan! *throws ball 16.76 mph*

Sweet fancy moses, is your car insurance bill $300 a month?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:52 PM
Yep. Also home to some great strip clubs. Especially compared to what Washington offers.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:53 PM
NJ too, if my sources are accurate.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:53 PM
Going approx 100mph on I-75 about 25 miles north of Atlanta, in a Supra Turbo.
State trooper going south as I was heading north – very large median w/ no pass thru for him to get me – he was in his left lane, brake lights on looking for a spot to cross.
I punched it and saw 125+ as I lifted to hit an off ramp. I parked it in a secluded area of a state park and went for a hike for an hour and never got ticketed.
I’m guessing my heart rate was approx 102 beats per minute.

Had to create a job that an Oregon degree qualifies you for.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:53 PM
gawna double click the mouse, huh!?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:54 PM
I wish it was, but that has more to do with living in NJ than the tickets. In NJ the points drop off after 3 years, so I think I only have 2 that still show up.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:56 PM
Seriously. Are you guys bragging? Going that fast is just asking for an outrageous ticket & increased insurance premiums. Fuck. That.
/miser’d
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:56 PM
I believe it may have been 102 beats per 30 seconds based on that one. Solid story there. Had a couple of those myself.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:56 PM
I have no idea how old SG is, just saying that’s probably good territory for Mike Rowe. I know I’d be absolutely plowing through the lonely housewife/diveorcee crowd if I were him. Get some of those slightly desperate women that will do absolutely anything. Good times.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:56 PM
I heard VA is fucking terrible with speeding tickets. I think my buddy got one for going 6 over a 55 MPH limit.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:57 PM
I just did some math in my head, and I’m way off. My wife and I pay just under $3k/annual for the both of us, although I have been told by my insurance company that another ticket and they’ll kick me out.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
They are bad. My father-in-law got a similar ticket, like 5mph over.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
My dad got one going 5 over outside of baton rouge on a business trip once.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Sources are indeed accurate. I don’t mind pumping my own gas having grown up in PA, but doesn’t really matter to me.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:58 PM
He’s narrating this show I’m currently watching on The Science Channel…I’m sure you could ask if he’d like to check out your black hole
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 PM
ZOMG
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 PM
Not bragging, just a statement. I do do a lot of driving. Almost all of my tickets have been out of my home state (at the time).
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:01 PM
You guys are underestimating him. The single early 30′s or late 20′s crowd also would go for him.
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:01 PM
Really helps when you get a new set of perfectly balanced Goodyears with no shimmy.
Only got one speeding ticket in that car – and it was red.
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:02 PM
I think it’s $700+ quarterly, but that might be semi-annually, which would cut that amount in half.
Bottom line, I don’t really know what I’m talking about.
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Awful stuff. I got caught going 75 in a 65, right before I hit the NC border and the speed limit goes up to 70. And the statie was a complete ass, telling me I had a radar detector and demanded I give it to him, when I never had one in my life. And I’m sure nice and respectful to police, but he treated me like shit. My one and only ticket.
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:03 PM

February 22nd, 2012 at 1:03 PM
All those years running up and down 295, I only got one speeding ticket. I fought it and got it “reduced” to a careless driving ticket that carried no points but a bigger fine.
I don’t think I would ever NOT fight a speeding ticket.
February 22nd, 2012 at 1:03 PM
Absolutely. He could get 22 year old model if he wanted. The dude is loaded and he’s hot.

Good gawd.
