Let’s try to stay on topic. You are free to talk about gas prices, car accidents, or american journalism. Or boobs. Boobs are always on topic.

That’s a loooooooong face
February 22nd, 2012 at 11:51 AM
I’d give her a pump or two.

This is so sad because it’s so true.

Three sponsored posts and this entirely pointless video, all on the front page?
NFL Network sure picked a bad time take over this place with their ads.
February 22nd, 2012 at 11:53 AM
What’s with the excessive amount of posts today?

There’s a guy on the Atlanta CBS affiliate that gets his own segment (every single day) titled the “pot hole patrol.”
He goes around and finds holes in the ground, and gets about 5 minutes a newscast reporting on them*. How he hasn’t offed himself is beyond me.
*not making this up
February 22nd, 2012 at 11:57 AM
Sounds like he went to the Kent Brockman / Bart Simpson school of broadcasting.

I got a question for y’all. Booking my flight to Vegas and thinking about cancelling one I booked with points…
Virgin America has a killer round trip price ($268) if I fly out on the Thursday of Memorial Day weekend instead of Friday. I fly back Monday. I could get all my CC points back and put those towards a hotel for Thursday night since we’ve already got Friday, Saturday and Sunday booked up. $268 is a ridiculously awesome price, even if I have to stop in SF first. Anyone ever fly Virgin? I’ve heard great things.

how can you follow him? his tweets are even more trolly than his posts.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:05 PM
What do you care about the flight? Don’t you overdose on anti-anxiety medication and booze and pass out through the whole thing?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:06 PM
So I can criticize him directly instead of waiting for a G-Chat invitation
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:08 PM
SG with the roundhouse kick to SC.
/Virgin America has one-way from Philly to SF for $149…seriously considering going out to SF in July.

Man, guest on Fox Business a couple of times and all of a sudden I’m a broadcasting expert.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:10 PM
You’ve all been tremendously unhelpful. Thanks.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:11 PM
Careful, get blocked that way. He’s been big on that as of late.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:11 PM
You’ve changed man.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:12 PM
You’ve all been tremendously unhelpful. Thanks.
Unless you’re getting a first class ticket, all airlines are pretty much the same, IMO. Airborne buses. Just gotta suck up and hope you don’t sit next to a fatty.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:13 PM
It all depends on if you want to take another day of vacation, and be on a plane that much longer.
As for the airline, nope, never been.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:13 PM
To answer your question…yes, it is nice. One of my preferred airlines to travel.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:14 PM
*Suck it up
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:15 PM
percocet and noise cancelling headphones are also amazing for flying.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:16 PM
I’ll always pay more money for a direct flight. Sitting in an airport for half a day is a drag.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:16 PM
Fuck. You.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:17 PM
I actually really like AirTran. Haven’t flown since the switch to Southwest ownership but they always had mad cheap prices, younger crews, and free XM in the headrests. Managed to get direct flights from Atlanta to Vegas and LA to Atlanta for 200 bucks roundtrip in the middle of summer.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:18 PM
were you planning the SF trip before the ticket prices?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Just gotta suck up and hope you don’t sit next to a fatty.
I crave Aisle seats
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Fuck. You.
Kevin Smith? Is that you?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:19 PM
flew airtran and hated it. /Team Delta with direct flight from JAX to DTW.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:19 PM
If all these speculators who are sending oil prices through the roof turn out to be wrong, we’ll get an apology and a discount, right?
I remember 4 or 5 years ago, one speculator went on CNBC and predicted that oil would reach $150 a barrel, and that day oil prices went up lie 3 dollars “on fears that oil prices would reach $150 per barrel.”
Sounds like part market forces, part crazy racket to me.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:20 PM
The wife and I were discussing doing a Cali trip actually. Just haven’t pulled the trigger b/c of $$$
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:20 PM
SC, I have a flight I have to do every month, and I fly Virgin. They’re cheap and you get free TV and wifi in-flight. It’s my favorite airline.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:21 PM
and free XM in the headrests.
airtran got rid of this about a month ago due to the SW merger. sucks.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:21 PM
yeah, they should really end speculation on oil for this reason
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:21 PM
People in the media have to craft a narrative to explain everything. Just like idiots in sports media.
Just because CNBC said oil prices went up “on fears that oil prices would reach $150 per barrel,” it really means nothing.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:22 PM
Ah that sucks. No baggage fees though now?
I’ve flown them probably seven or eight trips and never had a problem.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:23 PM
HAHAHA
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:23 PM
Disclaimer – I’ve only flown US Air, Continental (pre and post merger), United and SW the past few years, but I don’t see much of a difference. I buy a couple bottles of rum and either read or play my DS.
I do miss before the 3oz of liquids when I used to bring my flask full of Johnnie Black on the plane and get bombed flying to LA.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:24 PM
Holy shit. I had never seen this quote before:
“Manny Ramirez is the worst human being I’ve ever met.” – Terry Francona
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Ah that sucks. No baggage fees though now?

not sure… I usually fly delta because they have direct flights pretty much everywhere out of ATL, but I’ve flown airtran a fair amount as well and never had a problem. They were usually reasonable with prices too.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:26 PM
have you noticed that the flights on United/Continental with DirecTV in the headrests have less fascist flight attendants when it comes to portable electronics than flights w/o the directv?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:28 PM
I think CJ would get a little more of a leash, being that she’s one of the small number of female commenters.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:29 PM
I only flew in a 737-8 back last June that had the directTV, but it was 6:30 in the morning. Everyone was sleeping or reading from what I saw. Didn’t seem too different to me.
Oh and United’s Economy Plus is an absolute must if you are over 5’10″.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:29 PM
Plus, for some reason I got super extra bonus points for using an actual picture of myself on twitter.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:31 PM
phillymantis – San Fran as a vacation spot is teh awesome. me and mrs. mizerle06 is mcintyred of all the trollin’ went to San Fran, Yosemite, and Sonoma/Napa on an 11 day trip a couple of years ago. freaking awesome vacation.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:31 PM
yeah, i do agree with that. it’s definitely worth the out of pocket expense for those seats.
i had two flights last month on the same trip, flight out had directv, flight attendants were cool with ipods, noise cancelling headphones and e-readers. the flight home w/o directv, they wouldn’t leave a person’s side until they turned off the devices and showed they were off.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Giants/Phils?? I’m in.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:35 PM
They play in April this year…sad. I bought tix for Phils/Giants in July in Philly though. If you want to come out, I still have that game open.
miz – my wife went to SF about 8 years ago and loved it as well. My cousin said he would tour guide us around (he used to live there for 4 years). I really want to hit Sonoma up and maybe drive the coast down to LA.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:36 PM
We all know far that goes.
/looks at TST
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:37 PM
WTF?!?! That’s just ridiculous, no way they should be playing before June. I’ve got a couple trips I’m debating on so far. Right now the leading candidates are New Orleans in April for a buddy’s wedding and going to Miami Memorial Day Weekend to go to the Miami/Giants series at that new park.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Highway 1 (PCH) is long (2X using I-5), but it is a gorgeous trip.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Holy shit. I had never seen this quote before:

Awesome
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:41 PM
You had your picture up for like 2 weeks though. I’ve had mine up long enough for everyone to figure out which cartoon character I resemble.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:42 PM
I know…Phils first west coast trip is in April this year (SF, SD and Arizona). I’m going down to Baltimore for Phils/O’s the second weekend of June.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:42 PM
That’s why I just stick with Dr. Bunson Honeydew.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:43 PM
awesome. the pacific coast highway is very scenic. I’ve only driven the short stretch from Santa Monica up to wherever Pepperdine is (Malibu maybe??), but up there near Pepperdine is gorgeous…cliffs right on the beach with maybe a 20-30 foot wide stretch of sand. SF is really cool if you know people out there. we had a friend give us tips and a little tour and my wife’s cousin was also at Stanford so we spent some time down in Palo Alto with him. we want to go back to Yosemite and spend some more time in northern CA too.
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:43 PM
“Manny Ramirez is the worst human being I’ve ever met.” – Terry Francona
Funny how he didn’t say this when he was going 40-125-.300 every year…
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:45 PM
which one was consensus?
February 22nd, 2012 at 12:46 PM
Yes, it is in Malibu.
