Robert Griffin III Ran a 4.38 40, and Now the Rams Will Ask for a Ransom for the No. 2 Pick
NFL Combine, NFL Draft, Video February 26th. 2012, 9:51am
Robert Griffin III, the Heisman winner from Baylor, just ran a 4.38 40 at the NFL combine, destroying the 4.6 Cam Newton ran last year, when he was taken No. 1 overall.
[UPDATE: Michael Vick ran a 4.25 at his Pro Day at Virginia Tech, and then 4.33 40 at the Combine.]
This is tremendous news for the woebegone St. Louis Rams, who hold the No. 2 pick in the draft. The Browns are among the teams who need a QB and covet RG3, and the Rams’ asking price just went through the roof. If I were a Cleveland fan, I’d be very nervous about getting outbid by Washington’s Daniel “Checkbook” Snyder.
Griffin’s blazing 40 yard dash actually beat Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd (4.41). I think it’s safe to say in our next mock draft, we’ll definitely have Griffin No. 2 overall.

Anybody know what Vick’s 40 time was? Couldn’t find it on Google.

He also measured over 6’2″ so the Rams should ask for the Browns 4th and 22nd pick in addition to at least a 2 next year

I have On good authority that the Rams are staying put and taking Blackmon.

No shot Blacmon goes #2 after measuring 6′ and a slow 40 that is upcoming

NOW they can ask a KING’s ransmom. But if he ran a 4.45 only a ransom fit for a PRINCE would be on the table.

Why would he run a 40?

Why would he run a 40?
Maybe a good time gets him the #2 pick but I think STL is still better off trading it away.

nice of duffy to let you borrow his thesaurus.
/but in all seriousness, good post.

There was never a shot he went #2. TBL just insisted on it.

If am Cleveland I offer the 4th and 22nd. that’s it! The Rams move back two spots, two! They get the player they want. The Redskins have nothing to offer.

Peter King says it’ll take an additional 2nd (replied snarkily, as is his MO, to someone who suggested an additional 4th would do it).
I bet the Rams could get the 2nd, but they better make sure to drum up that market. They’re gonna have a tough time getting Jax/Min/Ten in that bidding.

Duffy consulted on this post?
What does Snyder’s spending habits have to do with this? You can’t trade money to get a pick.
