John Terry Suspended Four Games For Racially Abusive Language, Fined $360,000

Chelsea defender John Terry has been found guilty of using racially abusive language toward Anton Ferdinand by the English Football Association. He will serve a four-game suspension. He will also pay a $357,000 fine. Terry was caught on tape calling Ferdinand a “fucking black cunt.” Terry claimed he asked if Ferdinand was accusing him of calling him a “fucking black cunt” when the camera caught him.
Terry was acquitted of criminal charges in July. He retired from the English national team after receiving FA charges. Terry’s suspension is half that given to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez for calling Manchester United defender Patrice Evra “Negro” during a match last season, though Terry will pay approximately six times as much in fines. Terry will be eligible to return Nov. 3 against Swansea. He will miss matches against Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
