The Baltimore Sun is Running a Poll on Whether Joe Flacco or Ben Roethlisberger is Better, and the Super Bowl MVP is Losing
By Jason Lisk
We are in that nether region between the NFL Draft and training camps opening, so for now, we get to embrace debate on things like a poll about who is the better quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger or Joe FlaccoFlacco’s hometown paper, the Baltimore Sun, is running that right now. It’s meaningless, and the paper is sure to let you know that the results are not scientific.
They are not scientific because these sports polls are rarely representative. ESPN runs a twitter poll during a college basketball broadcast, and if Indiana is in the game, the Indiana players will get more votes than Michigan or Ohio State players because it is the Hoosier fans watching in force. Baseball All-Star ballots in stadium don’t represent any coherent thought, as hometown fans often vote for guys who have yet to play.
So Joe Flacco should run away with this thing, on a Baltimore website, coming off a Super Bowl title, a Super Bowl MVP, and all the good will that goes with it.
The current results as of 1:20 eastern time: Joe Flacco, 12,152 (49%); Ben Roethlisberger 12,815 (51%)
It appears that either Pittsburgh fans are storming the Baltimore website en masse, or the luster of the playoff run has already worn off.
