Dylan Moses, Enormous 8th Grader, Now Has an Offer From Texas in Addition to LSU and Alabama

Dylan Moses, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound highly-coveted 8th grade football player, tweeted this week that he received a scholarship offer Texas. According to the Dallas Morning News, this is “unprecedented” because Texas has never before offered a middle school kid a scholarship. Before you get all huffy about desperate Mack Brown trying to pounce on a 14-year old, you should know the Longhorns are a few months behind LSU, and weeks behind Alabama in the chase for Moses. Hype about Moses – who projects as a running back or defensive back – has been building for months, and that kind of happens when you do this:

"LSU coaches timed Moses at 4.46 seconds in the 40-yard dash and measured his vertical leap at 34 inches. Edward Moses said LSU recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson then put Dylan on the field with players like St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette, the top prospect in Louisiana for 2014, and a group of high school defensive backs. “He defended some of the best wide receivers in the area,” Edward Moses said."

An 8th grader holding his own against the best high school juniors in the state? Not bad. Other schools that have offered Moses a scholarship: Ole Miss, Florida, UCLA, Florida State and Nebraska.
