Chris Andersen was out of the NBA a year ago, having been dumped by the Denver Nuggets in the wake of “child pornography” being seized from his home.  It turned out Andersen was being extorted and did nothing wrong, but no team wanted anything to do with him. On January 20th, the Heat signed Andersen to a 10-day contract. On February 8th, they signed him for the rest of the season. On May 22nd, he came off the bench and dominated in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Andersen’s line – 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 7-7 FG, 2-2 FT – was historic in addition to important. The 7-7 broke Alonzo Mourning’s franchise record for most field goals in a playoff game without a miss. OK, so it’s historic in the most trivial way, but still.  After the game, Birdman joined the TNT crew on-set to talk about the game and basically, how crazy it is that he was even in an NBA uniform.

It gave TNT a chance to celebrate their obsession with Birdman. Shaq sang and danced. Kenny beat-boxed and told everyone how surprised he was that Andersen was well-spoken. Ernie kept asking if Andersen had thought his career was over.
