The summer has already been very busy for Paul Pierce, as he and Kevin Garnett moved from the Boston Celtics to the Brooklyn Nets on a draft-night trade last month. This holiday weekend Pierce is playing in the World Series of Poker’s Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, which runs until Sunday and features a $10K buy-in.

After one day, Pierce is doing pretty well. He currently sits in the top 20 out of 386 entrants. Pierce remains about 100,000 chips behind the leader.

Now that he’s plying his trade in New York, Pierce would be wise to avoid getting any advice on finding a poker game from Alex Rodriguez. [Photo via Bluff Magazine]
