Mark Messier is a hockey icon. During a 25-year NHL career, he was a member of five Stanley Cup champions (four with teammate Wayne Gretzky) on the Edmonton Oilers. In 1994, as a member of the New York Rangers, won his sixth Stanley Cup. On Nov. 6, Messier will be running in the ING NYC Marathon, not just as a personal challenge, but to help raise awareness of and funds for two 9/11 related charities.
