A Revolutionary Panel: Bud Selig has assembled a superstar panel of managers, GMs and club presidents to tackle crucial issues facing baseball.  They will be joined by a conservative political pundit, George Will, and a token black guy, Frank Robinson.  The panel will discuss pertinent issues, such as video replay, postseason off days, umpiring and pace of play.  Fittingly, the panel includes no one under 40 and only one person who has to watch these games on television (who is an uber-traditionalist curmudgeon).  Expect bad suits, hotdogs, yawning, nervous fidgeting by Jim Leyland and little if any effective reform. Golf, Retirees, Rich Old White People 40 Comments »

Tiger Woods held the lead for 54 holes at a major tournament and lost (gasp!).  South Korean Y.E. Yang, #25 on the PGA Tour Money List, came from behind to depose the wealthy one and win the PGA Championship.

It is Tiger’s first Major-less season in five years.  His 2009 season will go down in the annals of wikipedia, but merely for flatulence and mouthing off about rules officials.

One of the few things more boring than watching golf will be the discussion that follows it.

We’ll have some scintillating insight into his knee injury, riveting debates about whether he is finished and at least one clownish rant, hastily backtracked upon when he wins three out of four majors next year.  Good times.

Superstars Episode 1 Recap

Athletes and Celebrities, NFL, Retirees, Television 23 Comments »

ABC has a loose definition of the word “superstars.” The show kicked off last night and was a little… underwhelming. And I wasn’t expecting much.

There were people on this show I’d never heard of. And then there was Dan Cortese. From the intro, it looks like most of the events will take place on the beach. Interestingly enough, the New England Patriots don’t have any athletes participating. Read the rest of this entry »
