The list of CBS announcers calling the NCAA Tournament games is below. The No. 1 team is Jim Nantz and Clark Kellog and not surprisingly, they’ll be calling both Duke games opening weekend. (Nantz will also be calling Houston-Maryland … he has a degree in broadcasting from Houston.) That’ll only add to Jason Whitlock’s theory that CBS hooked Duke up for selfish TV reasons. (Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News echoes those sentiments today.) Read the rest of this entry »

ESPN released their play-by-play announcers for the 2010 World Cup. The network previously announced famed soccer voice Martin Tyler as their lead man. Ian Darke (Sky Sports) and ESPN’s own Adrian Healey and Derek Rae will join him. No slight to these men, who should perform excellently, but why are there no Americans?

Lost: A bit pressed for time this morning so we'll be pithy. Favorite moments: When Sayid opened the freezer in Sideways world; the chilling look on Sayid's face when Ben asked him a question in the Temple; the terrified look on Kate's face at the end; Miles talking about how dirty Claire is, and then saying, "still hot." Marvell Scott, a former New York City sportscaster for WABC and Illinois running back, has been arraigned on felony charges of raping a 14-year-old girl. The 36-year-old doctor allegedly met with a pimp, took the 14-year-old girl (a runaway from up state) back to his apartment, forcibly had sex with her against her will and called the pimp (confirmed by phone records) to ask for the girl again. The incident purportedly took place in June 2008. Scott claims he has been “framed.” (NYDailyNews)

Very few people seemed to like the episode. It puttered along for 50 minutes, and then closed with something resembling a flourish. Claire’s last line was eerie. Is she dead or what? Spoilers after the jump. [To all the new readers: The sports banter will be back in 30 minutes while all the Lost viewers feebly attempt to understand what happened last night.] Read the rest of this entry »
