Sports Figures Born On The Fourth Of July

- Tennis star and current purveyor of Wimbledon interviews Pam Shriver was born on the fourth of July.
- In baseball, you have former third baseman Vinny Castilla, utility man Jose Oquendo, and Chuck Tanner, who later became the manager of the “We Are Family” Pittsburgh Pirates who won the World Series in 1979. The most famous, of course, is former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
- For the NBA, you have a famous set of twins, Horace Grant and Harvey Grant.
- Several NFL players, including DT La’Roi Glover, Hall of Fame running back Floyd Little, former star cornerback Erich Barnes, Jets Super Bowl hero Emerson Boozer, and current defensive end Will Smith were born on the Fourth of July. Oh, and of course, Todd Marinovich. [Edit to Add: Al Davis, the man who drafted Marinovich, was also of course born on the 4th of July].
- In hockey, Mike Knuble of the Washington Capitals was born on July 4th.
- Former Olympic gold medalist swimmer Sylvia Ruuska, diving gold medalist Mark Lenzi, and Layne Beaubien of the 2008 Silver Medal winning U.S. Men’s Water Polo team.
