NFL Power Rankings, Big Brother-Style For Week 2: Bye, Bye Cleveland

NFL Power Rankings, Big Brother-Style For Week 2: Bye, Bye Cleveland

The people have spoken. Miami was on the block, but avoided elimination by beating Oakland at home. Thus, the Cleveland Browns become the first team eliminated from our Big Brother style power rankings, described here. Do I think Cleveland is likely to prove to be the worst team? No, but I also don’t think they are a threat to make a postseason run after starting 0-2.

This week, we go back at it with five new nominations to be voted off. Miami, St. Louis and Indianapolis won immunity with their victories this week.
At the top, the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans look like the early class of the league. You can criticize my choice of Houston over San Francisco based on schedule strength, but these teams are very similar. Houston still gets credit for handling two teams they were supposed to beat. As we’ve seen already, not every team favored so highly has fared as well.

  1. Houston Texans (2-0)
  2. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
  3. Green Bay Packers (1-1)
  4. Atlanta Falcons (2-0)
  5. New England Patriots (1-1)
  6. Baltimore Ravens (1-1)
  7. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
  8. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1)
  9. New York Giants (1-1)
  10. Denver Broncos (1-1)
  11. San Diego Chargers (2-0)
  12. Chicago Bears (1-1)
  13. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
  14. Detroit Lions (1-1)
  15. New York Jets (1-1)
  16. Washington Redskins (1-1)
  17. Arizona Cardinals (2-0)
  18. Carolina Panthers (1-1)
  19. New Orleans Saints (0-2)
  20. Seattle Seahawks (1-1)
  21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1)
  22. St. Louis Rams (1-1)
  23. Buffalo Bills (1-1)
  24. Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)
  25. Indianapolis Colts (1-1)
  26. Miami Dolphins (1-1)
  27. Minnesota Vikings (1-1)
  28. Tennessee Titans (0-2)
  29. Kansas City Chiefs (0-2)
  30. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2)
  31. Oakland Raiders (0-2)

Cleveland Browns (0-2)

We’ll eliminate one more this week, then two over the next two weeks to start making things interesting, before we embark on the bye weeks in earnest.

Minnesota Vikings: Pros are the only team on the list to have won a game so far. Con is that they just lost to Colts despite this pass.

Tennessee Titans: Chris Johnson backlash alone may carry the Titans to the brink.

Kansas City Chiefs: They have been absolutely destroyed by the Bills twice in the last thirteen months.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Blaine Gabbert’s line from Sunday: 7 of 19, 53 passing yards. Chris Johnson thinks that yards per play kind of sucks.

Oakland Raiders: They just lost handily to the Dolphins.
