James Shields has been traded to the Kansas City Royals in a deal that includes 2012 Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Wil Myers, according to Ken Rosenthal. In addition to Shields, the Royals will get Wade Davis, who pitched really well out of the bullpen last season, after starting for Tampa the previous two years.

Rosenthal’s tweet said that the Rays will get Myers and “other prospects”. We’ll soon find out just how many. I already wrote about my thoughts about these trade rumors a few days ago, so now I will go away.

[UPDATE: The Royals have also traded two pitching prospects, Jake Odorizzi and Mike Montgomery, as well as 3B Patrick Leonard].
