Russell Athletic Bowl: Rutgers had a solid 9-3 season under first-year head coach Kyle Flood. New York’s team lost out an Orange Bowl bid with a 20-17 loss to Louisville. They also joined the Big Ten. Cable Subscribers! Virginia Tech was awful, winning just three FBS games in regulation. The Hokies are expecting a $720,000 loss on this game, with tickets available for $3 on Stub Hub.

Recreational Prediction: Rutgers [-1]. Not trusting Virginia Tech until they give me a reason to. Stay off the streets in Manhattan.

Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas: College football: where going 2-6 in your conference deserves a trophy. Minnesota beat hapless Illinois and Purdue teams and edged non-conference wins over UNLV, Western Michigan and Syracuse by a combined 12 points. Texas Tech started 6-1, earning Seth Doege some long-shot Heisman buzz, but lost 4-5 to close the season in a brutal Big 12. The party ended here. Tech fans will want to get this over with, so the Kliff Kingsbury era can begin.

Recreational Prediction: Texas Tech [-13]. The Big Ten pain begins.
