During Saturday’s Hispanic Games at The Armory in New York, a fight broke out between runners during a 4 x 400 heat. It’s not entirely clear, but it appears the schools that got into it were Thomas Jefferson and Mount Vernon. The Hispanic Games is one of the biggest high school track meets in the country, with over 300 schools and 6000 athletes participating.

Here is the official stream from the event. The professionalism on display is incredible – and that is a shame. The announcer doesn’t even mention the fact that runners are fighting. He simply announces a new runner in first. The cameraman goes with a tight zoom on the runner so you can’t see how the fight plays out. Anything could have happened from handshakes to 8 athlete deaths.
