Summary:
Yes, you cannot define it, nor can you verify it.
Yes, there are 3 different WAR calculations.
Yes, some players look like all-stars in one calculation and average players in another.

But…it is new and it takes defense and baserunning into consideration (although we do not know how or how much weight they are given), so if you don’t accept it then you are an old fart clinging to the past.
