Marc Staal of the New York Rangers took a slap shot directly in the face Tuesday night. Seconds after a face-off, Staal had no time to react when a Kimmo Timonen shot was deflected and hit him directly in the right eye. Staal was not wearing a visor on his helmet which quickly became a hot topic. Visors are currently a “personal choice” for professional hockey players. You may recall that helmets were also option at one time.
