Goodman predicted as much on my podcast last week, but one wonders – would Minnesota have pulled the trigger if the Gophers rallied to beat Florida Sunday?

By Minnesota standards, Smith was good – 20+ wins five times in six years – but the Gophers fashion themselves as wanting to contend for Big Ten titles, I guess.

Also, everyone loves Shaka Smart, and Minnesota fans are pinning their hopes on the fact that their new AD, Norwood Teague, used to be at VCU, where he hired Smart.

Good luck with that, Gophers fans.

Who’s getting the job? It feels like a gig for a high-profile assistant – Chris Collins of Duke, who apparently is in the running for the Northwestern opening – or a low-major coach on the rise, like Andy Enfield of Florida Gulf Coast.
