The Mets and Yankees both opened at home today. The Yankees trotted out a lineup that could pass for a small market team pinching pennies and playing for 2015. The Mets led off with Collin Cowgill, the scrappy outfielder with two career home runs in over 200 plate appearances coming into the season.

Until today, on a day when Bryce Harper got started with two home runs, Cowgill hit a rocket line drive just over the left field fence for the first grand slam of the season. Mets 11, Padres 2, while the Yankees are losing at home to the Red Sox.
