Derek Jeter Suffers Setback, Likely Out Until After the All Star Break
By Mike Cardillo
A somber Brian Cashman dropped some news nobody in the Bronx wanted to hear: Derek Jeter suffered a “setback” in the rehab of his broken ankle and will likely be until after the All-Star Break.
Cashman said Jeter flew to North Carolina on Thursday to see a specialist and a new CT Scan of the ankle — broken in Game 1 of the ALCS vs. Detroit — revealed a small crack of the bone.
The 38-year-old Yankee captain had set an unofficial target date of May 1 for his return.
New York has started the season 8-5, despite the injuries to Jeter, Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira.
