Former Syracuse assistant coach Bernie Fine is suing ESPN in federal court for defamation, demanding $11 million in damages.  The initial filing, in New York State court, included ESPN reporter Mark Schwarz and the producer who worked on the Bobby Davis story as defendants. The federal filing includes only the parent company. Fine was not charged after a federal criminal investigation into allegations of sexual abuse. ESPN and Schwarz drew ample criticism for the handling of the story in the wake of Jerry Sandusky.
