It’s been an eventful weekend for the best hitter in baseball down in the greater Tampa Bay area. On Friday night Miguel Cabrera imitated Rays’ closer Fernando Rodney’s bow-and-arrow celebration following the Tigers’ win. A day later Rodney buzzed Cabrera with a high fastball in Tampa’s win in 10 innings. Come Sunday, Tigers starter Rick Porcello escalated the situation by plunking Ben Zobrist in the first innning. Both benches were warned.

In the top of the fourth Cabrera launched a home run — his 25th of the season — off Jeremy Hellickson that landed in the rays tank located in deep right center. He is only the second man to accomplish this aquatic feat.

(There wasn’t any immediate retaliation by the Rays after Cabrera took an indirect shot at the team’s namesake with his batted ball.)
