The NHL Entry Draft produced a fun moment in the seventh round when the New Jersey Devils made a trade in order to acquire another pick so they could select Anthony Brodeur, son of franchise legend Martin Brodeur. The Devils let the elder Brodeur announce the pick, which came right before the draft wrapped up.

The Colorado Avalanche selected Nathan MacKinnon with the first overall pick. Seth Jones, son of former NBA player Popeye Jones, went fourth overall to the Nashville Predators.
