The Miami Marlins are on pace to lose over 100 games this year, so they’re no strangers to disappointment. But the way in which they lost today’s game in St. Louis was particularly brutal.

With the score tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Cardinals pinch hitter Shane Robinson laced a two-out single to right field. John Jay raced around to third base, content to stop there. However, Giancarlo Stanton’s soft throw into the infield eluded first baseman Logan Morrison, allowing Jay to race home with the game-winning run.
