Alfonzo Dennard has been arrested on suspicion of DUI in Lincoln, Nebraska. In March, Dennard was convicted of last year’s assault on a police officer, and received two years probation. Oops. He was also sentenced to 30 days in jail, which was suspended until March of 2014 during the NFL offseason, and which his lawyers may have been able to argue to suspend if he had no other incidents. This arrest puts that in jeopardy. Bill Belichick also wrote a character letter on Dennard’s behalf in that case. In light of the current climate in New England, it will be interesting to see how tolerant they are of Dennard, after they took a character chance on him in the draft, already knowing about the previous assault that caused him to fall to the seventh round.
