Golfers … they’re such cut-ups, aren’t they? Before this week’s stop in Scotland for the Scottish Open Phil Mickelson and others took to the tee box and wound up like a hockey player taking a slap shot in the vein of Adam Sandler in the 1996 comedy “Happy Gilmore.” At one point Mickelson, hope you’re sitting down, attempts to swing with a righty club! Lefty swinging righty, what will they think of next!

Goofs aside, Mickelson is playing well at the actual Scottish Open. He leads the tournament after three rounds at 14-under.

Future generations will also marvel that once upon a time Sandler’s comedies were greeted with anticipation and not out-and-out derision like “Grown Ups 2” that opened this weekend. Sandler, of course, will laugh all the way to the bank.
