Tyson Gay, the American sprinter who finished fourth in the 100m at the Olympics, has pulled out of the track and field World Championships after failing a drug test in May.

"“I don’t have a sabotage story… I basically put my trust in someone and was let down,” said Gay, 30. “I made a mistake. I am pulling out of Monaco (this week’s Diamond League meeting) and the World Championships.”"

Gay had beaten Justin Gatlin with a 9.75 second 100m in the U.S. Championships in June, who in turn beat Usain Bolt. He had also run a 19.74 second 200m, the fastest time of the year.

UPDATE: This story may not be limited to just Gay. Reports out of Jamaica have four track and field athletes testing positive for a banned supplement. Two of them were sprinters, according to the report. Both were Olympic medalists. Stay tuned…
