Jurgen Klinsmann might not be around on Sunday when the U.S. National Team plays in the 2013 Gold Cup final after being ejected in the closing stages of Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Honduras at Cowboys Stadium. Klinsmann was shown the door by referee Wálter Quesada after arguing a challenge on American defender DaMarcus Beasley. Klinsmann gave a classic “you gotta be kidding me” handwave.

The ejection will likely endear Klinsmann further to U.S. fans, but means he could be suspended for the final. Klinsmann faces a CONCACAF disciplinary committee to decide his fate via Grant Wahl. Expect U.S. No. 2 Martin Vasquez to deputize for Klinsmann should be be forced to watch from the stands, which would give him a chance to model a new party shirt.

As for the game itself, Landon Donovan scored goals in each half to give him five in Gold Cup play. Eddie Johnson added the opener in the 11th minute. The U.S. won for a record 10th straight game and now awaits the winner of Panama/Mexico.
