Carlos Beltran Swings and Misses Moments Before Baseball Actually Bounces Over the Plate [Gif]

Carlos Beltran got fooled on this Jordan Walden pitch during the 8th inning of the Braves 5-2 win over the Cardinals Sunday. Facing a 1-2 count, Beltan guessed “ball is thrown to the catch on the fly” while Walden threw his experimental “oh that was a mistake I missed horribly!” pitch. If you thought it couldn’t look any worse for Beltran, check out the Pitch Trax take on the strikeout.

That is so inaccurate. The ball clearly hits the dirt, but Pitch Trax shows it bouncing in the grass. In Beltran’s defense, he had to swing because Mariano Rivera has been getting that call for two decades.
