One soulless, made for TV, neutral site opener just added a little spice. Gary Patterson was asked about Les Miles’ handling of the Jeremy Hill incident, reinstating him after a team vote. The TCU coach suggested  the motive may have been competitive, pointing out his entire team would have voted Devonte Fields back “because they all want to win.”

"“My whole team would vote Devonte to be back on the team because they all want to win,” Patterson said. “That doesn’t teach life lessons.” Patterson said he took the LSU vote as a sign of respect, noting that he doubted the players would have been involved if the Tigers were opening against a lesser opponent. “I’m sure if it was some opponent they’d beat by 100 points [the players] wouldn’t have a vote. It’s not my worry. I’ve got to play whoever they put on the field.”"

Miles subscribes to the Charles Barkley method of media handling. No one bites the man providing a steady stream of usable chum. Look over here! I’m rappelling down a building!
