Jonathan Villar's Star-Crossed Season for the Astros Hits Another Sour Note This Week

Jonathan Villar, the Houston Astros rookie shortstop, gave us another clip for the highlight reel earlier this week with this completely failed bunt attempt against Yu Darvish and the Rangers. Failed probably isn’t a strong enough word. Villar dropped the bat and took off toward first before the ball even crossed the plate. That’s impressively awful form.

Villar is the same player of “butt tag” infamy.

He plays for a team that’s drawn television ratings not even a microscope could pick up and also may or may not be very profitable.

Houston baseball fans have shown up and taken notice.

The Astros could finish with as many as 111 losses and nearly as many indelible memories.

As we kid with Villar, let’s remember he did steal home earlier this year on a straight steal which is hard to do.
