A smoke bomb thrown from the stands struck a linesman during Sunday’s Tottenham/Aston Villa Premier League match at Villa Park. David Bryan was hit in the back of the head by some sort of flare following Andros Townsend’s first-half goal. There was a brief delay and the game resumed.

The BBC reports two men — ages 25 and 47 — have been arrested.

Apparently somebody has watched the bridge scene from “Apocalypse Now” one too many times.

Tottenham won, 2-0.
