Thursday Night Football: Greg Schiano Watch as Tampa Bay Host Carolina

Greg Schiano and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be hosting Carolina tonight in your sizzling Thursday Night matchup. It should be interesting, if only because Mike Silver of NFL Network and nfl.com will be there, after dropping this column today.

Some highlights:

It’s worse than you can imagine,” says one NFL player who spent 2012 with the Bucs. “It’s like being in Cuba.” . . . “I think he just wants to flex his power,” [now Seattle player Michael] Bennett says. “He has small (man’s) syndrome. I still talk to guys who are there, and trust me, there’s not much respect for him in that locker room.”"

So this should be fun. For Carolina, it is all about the offense. The defense has shown up every game. Carolina has scored 34 points a game in wins; 12 points a game in losses. A few weeks ago, it was Ron Rivera that was on the hot seat. Carolina is now 3-3, and if they play up to their potential and the defense takes advantage of rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, they should move into the playoff picture, and the heat on Schiano should continue.
