The Phoenix Suns aren’t going anywhere in the upcoming NBA season, so late Friday afternoon they decided to move veterans Marcin Gortat, Shannon Brown, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall for Emeka Okafor (along with his expiring contract) and a first round draft pick. The Suns now have four picks in next year’s draft.

The early Twitter chatter makes it sound like the Suns are playing the tanking game to improve their chances of drafting Andrew Wiggins. Sounds like they’ll have competition from the 76ers.

This move could push Washington further into the playoff mix in the East, especially since Okafor status was uncertain due to a herniated disc in his neck.
