Two Oakland University basketball players, Duke Mondy and Dante Williams, were arrested Thursday morning after allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman at a Los Angeles hotel, according to TMZ. WXOU.org confirmed both players had been booked and WXYZ in Detroit has tweeted confirming the details through the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. When The Big Lead called the Culver City police department, an officer said a statement was being prepared and it would be released this afternoon.

"Law enforcement sources tell us, 23-year-old starting guard Duke Mondy and 20-year-old Dante Williams were arrested inside a Culver City hotel following an SVU investigation, and subsequently booked for rape. They are each currently being held on $100,000 bail."

Oakland lost at UCLA on Tuesday night and is scheduled to play in the Maui Invitational tonight against Cal. Mondy, whose first name is Murray, is a 23-year-old senior guard who originally began his career at Providence. Williams is a 6-foot-6 junior forward for the 0-2 Grizzlies.

UPDATE: The charges against Mondy and Williams have been dropped according to Oakland coach Greg Kampe via a report from CBS’s Matt Norlander:

"“They will be appropriately suspended upon review of the situation,” said Kampe. “This was more than going past curfew, more than breaking of team policy. It’s more than that. I take it very seriously, am apologetic to our fans, apologetic to college basketball that something like this would happen.”"

TMZ has also updated its report that California authorities will not proceed with criminal charges. Both players have been released but have been suspended by the team.
