Michigan State upset the Stanford Cardinal 24-20, winning their first Rose Bowl since 1988. The Spartans dominated the final three quarters after falling behind 10-0, holding the Stanford offense to just three points. That’s a colossal win for the program and for the Big Ten. The conference had lost nine of its last 10 in Pasadena. Would two BCS bowl wins stifle the derp narrative?

Not a great performance from David Shaw down the stretch. He kicked a field goal down seven with 5:30 remaining. Two critical downs on the final drive were telegraphed, predictable runs. Shades of taking the ball out of Andrew Luck’s hands in the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State.

Perhaps Michigan State’s one misstep all night…whiffing on the Mark Dantonio Gatorade bath.
