Kevin Durant Hits Game-Winner Over Three Atlanta Defenders, His Jordan Stretch Continues

Kevin Durant continues to do Michael Jordan things on the basketball court. Here he is Monday night ripping the hearts out of the Atlanta Hawks with a running one-hander in the closing seconds. The Hawks, who led for 98 percent of the game, ran a double team – a poor one – at Durant after he received the ball, but he easily saw it coming. So he attacked the rim and swished the game-winner as three defenders – Kyle Korver came over to help in a futile attempt – helplessly looked on. Ballgame. Durant, who scored the game’s final seven points, finished with 41.

If you’re keeping score at home … Durant has topped 30 points in 11 straight games. He’s topped 40 five times this month, and done it six times this season (nobody else has more than two). He’s running away with the scoring title (31.3 ppg, next highest is Melo at 27.2) and undeniably has passed Paul George and LeBron in the MVP race.

The league hasn’t seen a stretch like this since Jordan wore a Bulls jersey around two decades ago. Just look at this freaking shot chart over the last 5 games:
